Hello guys! In this topic we'll know what is custom ROMs and how should you can use it.
Well in android smartphones there is android software pre-installed with smartphone brands UI(user-interface).
like MIUI, coloros, etc.

Google builds Android operating system and releases every year. Currently, Android 12 which is know as Android S has been released. 

Well UI is daily uses looks or user interface of your smartphone that is provided by smartphone brands.
In different UIs you can find different type of notification panel, the different setting app looks, a different launcher, etc.


Smartphone brand like Xiaomi Mi, Nokia, etc uses google's release of Android Open Source Project(AOSP) and update that it according to brand design to promote their brands by UIs and also include promotional apps to earn money by pre-installing them on their devices.

So what is ROM!

ROM is Read-only memory that a user can not modify. It includes kernel, system image to apps etc.
In simple ways, ROM is your operating system A code and program that is written to run devices.
Google owns and manages the android OS and also releases it for the public, so that the public can modify it according to there way. All major software that is public is known as open-source. 
A ROM that is provided by the manufacturer or OEM is know as stock ROM.


What is Custom ROM!

Well as you know that what is ROM actually, So custom ROM is nothing but a customized version of AOSP. 
Many developers contribute to create custom ROMs and releases for different devices by device maintainers who manage device related code .

One of the best custom ROM provider is LineageOS that is secure and open-source and many other rom is based on this.


What is Custom recovery!

Well same as custom ROM, Custom Recovery is a piece of code and an image file that is written in recovery partition block to update and manage the ROM.
Like ROMs there is recovery also exists as a program that helps to update android security and upgrade the android version.
well, we need to upgrade our default stock recovery program to install and manage custom ROM. Custom recovery has the capability to install custom ROM, backup, and restore device ROMs or system, and data partition and many more things, but at the same time in most cases.

So How can you install a custom ROM on an android device!






Before doing this your Device boot loader should be unlocked  have a custom recovery installed.

Well to install a custom ROM either use PC or can be flashed using a custom recovery.
Mostly Custom Rom is flashed using a custom recovery.
Custom recovery is nothing but replaces a stock recovery that is pre-installed with a device.

well before installing a custom ROM, you must ask some questions yourself:-
*Is my phone's android version is too old?
*Is my phone lagging so much.
*Is there custom ROM support is available or not for the device?
*should I really mess with the well working device?

Pros and Cons of using custom ROM

Pros:-
*you will find new useful, cool features and looks.
*more efficient power saving.
*lag free user experience in low end devices as compare to stock.
*you can upgrade to the android version.

Cons:-
*If you install ROM incorrectly, or rooted device banking apps might not work.
*Rarely but might be custom ROM brick your device and damage the battery health.
*Many stock system programs might not be available in custom ROM to support some feature. 

Well If your android version is below 5.0/5.1 then you can think of doing this.
well if an official custom ROM is available then you can think of doing this.
Otherwise, you should stick with what ROM you have but if you still wish to try the custom ROM you should take a backup of the android system in an external sd card, and here we going to know the procedure.

Some Point and steps to download and flash custom ROM:-

before following the steps I warn you that your device might brick or unable to be boot and you have to flash stock software.

1. Search "custom ROM for <your device name with model number>" in google, Telgram also became the best resource for custom ROM support, search there.
2. you will either find official custom ROM provider sites like Lineage or unofficially compiled ROM that may be based on different custom ROM providers, LineageOS is the best, and leading officially custom ROM provider.
3. Xda developer is solely made for android and getandroidtips are the websites that can actually helps you.
4. So you have to download a ROMs ZIP file for your device.
5. Download the ROM and boot into custom recovery, first format the data, then wipe system, vendor, data partition and choose that zip file and flash in recovery.
6. Make sure the full backup of your system, recovery, etc using a custom recovery. and saved all in external storage.

Your custom ROM will be installed, have patience! first boot takes time, After boot you are ready to use custom ROM.

Note:- If you planning to buy a smartphone always prefer to buy a Snapdragon CPU SoC Smartphone, or a manufacturer who releases kernel, support boot-loader unlocking for custom the custom ROM and all seamless modifications.
